Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

I am the first to admit that it is quite a mouthful. That is why I always use the acronym WELS.

The WELS first started in the Wisconsin area, hence the name, around the mid 1800's. It now can be found in all fifty states as well as in many  foreign countries.

The major beliefs of the synod include that the Bible is the true Word of God, we are all sinners and that Jesus Christ is the Savior from sin for the entire world. He fulfilled our salvation from sin and eternal death and has given it to us as a gift, complete and whole, with nothing that we must do our selves. The Holy Spirit works in our hearts and brings us to faith in God and lets us believe and trust in the salvation that the Son has accomplished.

So we  believe that we are saved, not perfect, still sinners until we are taken home to Heaven. This belief, this trust is what remains for us in good times and bad.

If you are interested in more information or have questions, please feel free to Email me and I will try to answer, or at least find out the answers.

Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him!  For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, Shall we be saved through His life! Romans 5:9-10
